There is only one rule in Mr. Shearer's Classroom: Respect
Mr. Shearer's Classroom Procedures: 1. Bring two sharpened pencils to class (can sharpen at the beginning, but not during class!) 2. Have an AR book with you at all times 3. Check into my classroom and then sign out immediately upon entering 4. Use the water fountain at the beginning of class before it starts or at the end, not during! 5. The special swivel chairs are reserved and not for students unless given permission
Mr. Shearer's Consequences Level 1: Verbal Warning Level 2: VPA Benching *Assign Behavior Ticket and Behavior Pledge Writing Assignment as needed Level 3: Detention Level 4: Principal's Office referral **Mr. Shearer reserves the right to skip any and all steps as needed.
Mr. Shearer's Hallway Rules: **5 Star Line** 1. Eyes forward 2. Hands to the side 3. Mouths closed 4. Feet directly behind the person in front of you 5. Stand tall and walk with pride
Mr. Shearer's Homework Rules: Homework is to be written into the planner as soon as the student enters the classroom!
1. Homework will be collected on the day it is due, if graded, or reviewed in class. It is expected that students have all homework done on time and if they have questions to: ask them during intervention, refer to the my website for useful information, refer to their notebook journal/class notes, or come and see Mr. Shearer beforeclass starts! 2. Homework not completed earns a student an "awareness pink slip." The student fills one out for himself and the teacher. Student will have a strike added to their Home Run Hitters club too. Student will be benched during VPA and must work on incomplete HW. 3. A student can be held back from extra-curricular activities, such as field trips, assemblies, VPA, or earn a detention due to missed work!
Homework is practice to make a student better at a particular skill and not busy work! It allows the teacher to see what the student has retained or needs help with. Perfect Practice Prevents a Poor Performance on tests and "Real World" applications!
Please make sure your child does not bring any toys or other distracting items to school. If and when I see students playing with these types of things during non-play time, I will confiscate them and may not give them back until the end of the day or until a parent comes to pick it up.
